Kieron Pollard has been named as the new West Indies ODI and T20I captain

Just In! Trinidadian Boy and T20 Specialist Kieron Pollard has been named as the new West Indies Captain for ODI and T20s. Polly replaced the Jason Holder who was previously captaining the West Indies team in limited overs cricket format. After a failed campaign in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, West Indies Cricket Board aims to defend the T20 World Cup 2020 with this new captain announcement.

While Announcing this new appointment of White Ball Captain, CWI President said:

“One of the things we found in our One-Day team shortcomings is over 50 players were picked between the 2015 & 2019 World Cups. It made little sense and the results showed” “Jason Holder is a very important force and he is still going to be our red ball captain”.We believe Kieron Pollard is the right person at the right time now to lead the West Indies team in white ball cricket”.

While rejoicing his takeover as the new West Indies Cricket Team ODI and T20 Captain, Keiron Pollard Said:

“I’ve played franchise all over the world and I hope to use this experience to help the West Indies in my role as captain”.”In the short term as Captain, the immediate aim is to defend the T20 World Cup. One of the discussions I hope to have is to bring back the idea of specialists playing in their best positions”.

West Indies had their ups and downs post ICC T20 World Cup 2020 and they ended up on the 9th place in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. With his appointment as new West Indies captain, West Indies Cricket Board looks forward to defend the ICC T20 World Cup 2020.
