IPL 2021 Team Squads [Retained & Released Players List ]

IPL Management had released the Retained & Released Players before the IPL 2021 Auction that took place on 12th February 2021. As per the deadlines of BCCI, all the Franchise teams had to submit their Retained and Released Player list till 20th January 2021.

On the last date, all the Franchise teams including Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Defending Champions Mumbai Indians announced their Retained & Released Players List.

Kolkata Knight Team Squad

As per the list released by the teams, Kolkata Knight Riders retained 17 Players from Last year and released 7. The popular names retained by KKR are Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Pat Cummins, Andre Russell and Sunil Naraine. Whereas, they released Tom Banton, Chris Green and Nikhil Naik among others.

Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Rahul Tripathi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Pat Cummins, Prasidh Krishna, Sandeep Warrier, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Tim Seifert, Shakib Al Hasan, Harbhajan Singh, Ben Cutting, Karun Nair, Pawan Negi, Venkatesh Iyer, Sheldon Jackson, Vaibhav Arora.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Team Squad

Whereas, Royal Challengers Bangalore retained 12 players from the last year team and released 10 players. The famous players retained by RCB are Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammad Siraj. However, they also released big names of Aaron Finch, Dale Steyn and Umesh Yadav. As, Dale Steyn opted not to participate in IPL 2021 and take some rest for few days.

Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Yuzvendra Chahal, Devdutt Padikkal, Navdeep Saini, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, Josh Philippe, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pavan Deshpande, Kyle Jamieson, Glenn Maxwell, Dan Christian, Sachin Baby, Rajat Patidar,  Mohammed Azharudeen, Suyash Prabhudesai, Kona Srikar Bharat.

Mumbai Indians Team Squad

On the other side, the two time defending Champions Mumbai Indians also retained 18 players from last year while releasing 7 names. The hot names retained by MI are Rohit Sharma, Quinton De Cock, Keiron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bhumrah. Unfortunately, MI also released Lasith Malinga and Nathan Coulter-Nile with few others. Malinga is now retired from League Cricket as well.

Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan (WK), Chris Lynn, Anmolpreet Singh, Saurabh Tiwary, Aditya Tare (WK), Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Anukul Roy, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Rahul Chahar, Jayant Yadav, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohsin Khan, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Adam Milne, Piyush Chawla, James Neesham, Yudhvir Charak, Marco Jansen, Arjun Tendulkar.

Delhi Capitals Team Squad

Likewise, Delhi Capitals also retained 19 players from their last year team squad and released 6 players. The famous names retained by DC are Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kagiso Rabada. Whereas, DC too released Sandeep Lamichhane, Alex Carey and  Jason Roy with others.

Rajasthan Royals Team Squad

On the other side, Rajasthan Royals Retained 17 players from last year team squad and released 8 players. The grand names retained by RR are Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, David Miller and Robin Uthappa. However, RR also released Steve Smith and Tom Curran with few others.

Punjab Kings Team Squad

Now, was the time for Punjab Kings to show their retained and released player list. So they opted to keep 16 Players from last year and let go 9 players. The great names held by KP are KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran, Mohammed Shami and Chris Jordan. In addition, they also released Glenn Maxwell and Sheldon Cottrell with others.

KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran, Mandeep Singh, Sarfaraz Khan, Deepak Hooda, Prabhsimran Singh, Mohammed Shami, Chris Jordan, Darshan Nalkande, Ravi Bishnoi, Murugan Ashwin, Arshdeep Singh, Harpreet Brar, Ishan Porel, Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, Shahrukh Khan, Moises Henriques, Dawid Malan, Fabian Allen, Jalaj Saxena, Saurabh Kumar, Utkarsh Singh.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Team Squad

Afterwards, Sunrisers Hyderabad Joined the train of Retention and Released of Players. SRH retained 22 Players (most by any team) from the last year squad and released 5 players. David Warner, Manish Pandey, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kane Williamson, Jonny Bairstow, Mitchell Marsh and Mohammad Nabi are some big players retained by SRH this year.

Chennai Super Kings Retained Players

Lastly, Chennai Super Kings called their shorts of Player retention and release. CSK kept 18 players from last year team squad and let go 5 players. MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Josh Hazlewood, Faf du Plessis and Imran Tahir are some big players retained by CSK this year. However, CSK also released two popular names of Shane Watson and Harbhajan Singh with three others.

Transfers

Only Delhi Capitals availed the Transfers Slot for their two player. And, DC Transferred Daniel Sams and  Harshal Patel to RCB ahead of IPL Auction.

IPL 2021 Team Squad Summary After Auction

IPL 2021 Auction held on 11th February 2021. All the participating teams including Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Defending Champions Mumbai picked their team squads in this auction for IPL 2021.

As per the guidelines of BCCI, all the Franchise submitted their Retentions and Released Players List on 20th January 2021.
